Elliot

ELLIOT is an European FP7 R&D project of STREP / Collaborative research type. It aims at the development of an Internet of Things experiential platform allowing direct involvement of users (customers, citizens) in co-creating, exploring and experimenting new ideas, concepts and technological artefacts.


We created the following two ICT systems for the company Marketing & Telematica, dealing also with Medical Evidence, which manages scientific medical information and education through the ECM update courses for different types of healthcare providers since 1998. We have created a LMS for these courses.

Social Thingum has produced two other business plans for two different business ideas, DietSmartFit and Social_Makers, for whose realization we are waiting for funding and joint ventures.

DietSmartFit

The project will develop infrastructure and services for the health monitoring and management of rehabilitation, with special attention to the fight against obesity, within an ecosystem consists of:

  1. Conventional and smart body sensors;
  2. ICT infrastructure based on cloud FI-WARE for the collection and processing of their data;
  3. Mobile app to take advantage of health related services.

Services will range from simple user self-monitoring (for instance by collecting and analyzing a number of parameters related to obesity during game-play, such as: heart rate, weight, step count and calorie burn, possibly in view of weight loss) to harnessing the networked intelligence of all stakeholders for just-in-time recommendations in order to achieve optimized models of healthier life. The focus on obesity rehabilitation will be based on two different cultural and economic environments. The integration of the front-end app with the background ICT infrastructure will provide opportunities to setting and monitoring individual and community goals, creating profiles and individual portfolios of services, and receiving personalized recommendations based on personal profiles and wellbeing experts’ advice.

3D PRINTS

Modeling service and slicing for 3D printers inexperienced owners. The service helps the user to print simple items on your home printer. The service is based on a catalog of gradually expanding objects. Each object is accompanied by a series of parameters to change its shape to the user liking. Upon reaching a satisfactory form, behind modest fee the service sends the user the object code prints.

The project that aims concerns an entire ecosystem composed by printer manufacturers, their owners, their users, and finally the facilitators for their use. Therefore, even if the service is payable on the current printer fleet, suitable measures could be put in place by manufacturers, or directly from the sellers, taking the printer on the network, thereby enabling the control and remote monitoring(Facility already in place in the products of a startup based in Milan). Similarly, sellers may be the first promoters of the service, noting at the same time the real needs of users, or a catalog of objects that can be offered for printing, and creating the connection between demand and offer of service. Finally, the 3D modelers can optimize models depending on the service you want to offer, for example by improving the scalability of some parameters.
